Oxford City Housing Limited (OCHL), a subsidiary of Oxford City Council, aims to deliver 1,900low carbon, affordable homes for the city. Backed by the Oxfordshire Housing and Growth Deal, the conversion of Lucy Faithful House into 36 apartments is currently nearing completion. Cosgrove & Drew is proud to have contributed to the functionality of the £10.9 million development, providing installation of efficient hot and cold-water distribution systems and sanitary ware; ventilation and insulation systems to optimise energy usage; and complete plant commissioning from natural gas to LTHW Pipework infrastructure.

Previously serving as accommodation for individuals experiencing homelessness, the site will offer one, two, and three bed homes in Oxford’s city centre. 73% of the properties will be let at social rent, providing affordable housing; the remaining flats will be available for private sale, with proceeds reinvested into the city’s affordable housing initiatives.

Oxford City Council is aiming for zero carbon emissions from all new developments by 2030. Aligning with these aims, every property in the development has been equipped with low-carbon fittings and appliances, including roof-top solar panels which are anticipated to generate up to 40% of energy used on site. This marks a significant milestone in Cosgrove & Drew’s history of contributing to developments that address both social and environmental challenges.

Luke Drew, Managing Director of Cosgrove & Drew comments “We commend our Oxford branch for their exceptional work on the Lucy Faithful House redevelopment. Contributing to affordable housing in Oxford, the project demonstrates our company-wide commitment to sustainable infrastructure and sets a precedent for future housing developments”.
